Berks Nature owns and manages over 1,300 acres of public land for wildlife habitat and recreation...with so much to explore, there's always something new to discover! Visit and explore the trails that trace this expanse of green space during our monthly series: Hike the Preserves!
In December, we'll round out this year's Hike the Preserves series by walking the familiar Angelica Creek Trail. This gentle path winds through wetlands, wooded edges, and open stretches of green space offering excellent opportunities to spot winter birds and other seasonal wildlife. We'll follow this trail until it joins the Schuylkill River Trail and then turn back for the park, a distance of just about 2 miles altogether. If you attend the full Hike the Preserves series, you'll be able to compare the sights, plantlife, and seasonal snapshot of the Angelica Creek Trail with our other preserves! With each hike, you'll build a growing understanding of Berks County's diverse landscape and its ability to support varied wildlife, hold water, and create space for people to explore. This hike is best suited for adults.
This location gives us more parking and reliable options for bad weather, with several trailheads and nearby facilities that make the hike easier to manage during the colder months. Therefore, unlike the other programs in this series, this hike's registration is per person. This is a relaxed and curious hike suited for adults who enjoy exploring nature at a steady pace while learning more about the places that make up our local preserve network.
Registration closes December 17th
