Berks Nature owns and manages over 1,300 acres of public land for wildlife habitat and recreation...with so much to explore, there's always something new to discover! Visit and explore the trails that trace this expanse of green space during our monthly series: Hike the Preserves!

In September, we will hike one of Reading's best kept secrets: the Gravity Trail. Despite its urban location, this route offers a mix of forest, overlooks, and a few steady hills. This will be a two-mile hike taking us from Pendora Park to Engleman's Park and back. On this guided stroll, our naturalist will point out plants, animal signs, and even early indicators of fall's arrival. If you attend the full Hike the Preserves series, you'll be able to compare the sights, plantlife, and seasonal snapshot of Gravity Trail with our other preserves! With each hike, you'll build a growing understanding of Berks County's diverse landscape and its ability to support varied wildlife, hold water, and create space for people to explore. This hike is best suited for adults.

Registration for this program (and series) is per car rather than per person. Carpooling is always recommended since parking can be limited at some preserves.
This is a relaxed and curious hike suited for adults who enjoy exploring nature at a steady pace while learning more about the places that make up our local preserve network. Parking location is mailed to registered particpants.

Please note, end times are approximate.

Registration closes September 10th
